CABLE & WIRELESS NATIONAL FRAME RELAY SERVICE is a
networking service offering secure and reliable connectivity between geographically dispersed sites within Barbados to form a private network. It provides a wide range of connectivity speeds to suit business needs and guaranteed levels of throughput to ensure reliable connectivity.
It is designed to handle fluctuating volumes of traffic efficiently, securely and cost-effectively, making it ideal for connecting local area networks (LANs).
It can carry voice traffic, as well as support client-server applications. Each site only requires one connection to the Cable & Wireless data network, instead of a connection to every other LAN. The network provides all the interconnections, thereby minimising equipment and connection charges.
Applications of Frame Relay include Internet access, interactive client server applications, voice traffic, file sharing and transfer, computer-aided design and manufacture (CAD/CAM), transmission of images computer simulation, and the interchange of high volume, low bandwidth 'bursty' traffic.
