CABLE & WIRELESS METRO ETHERNET is a high-speed IP network service providing an economical way to connect multiple sites locally for customers in Barbados via a secure, dedicated network infrastructure. Service can be provisioned over copper and fibre.
Cable & Wireless Metro Ethernet uses Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology to provide services that are fast, secure, scalable and flexible, routing traffic around failures, congestion and bottle-necks. Each router in the network sends each data packet on to the next router by identifying and using the most optimum route. MPLS provides an alternative to routing entirely on the basis of a packet's destination. It also simplifies network operation significantly, and is based on industry-wide standards.
Metro Ethernet is ideal for local Wide Area Network (WAN) implementation and is extremely flexible in responding to a rapidly changing business environment. It is often used as a key component in the journey towards an integrated communications and IT infrastructure.
