Cable & Wireless (Barbados) Limited, established in April 2002, is an amalgamation of four Cable & Wireless companies operating in Barbados. With its incorporation, Cable & Wireless (BET) Limited, Cable & Wireless (BARTEL) Limited, Cable & Wireless Caribbean Cellular and Cable & Wireless Information Systems fell under a single legal entity for the first time.
Since 1938, Cable & Wireless, one of the world's major players in the global telecommunications business with revenue of over £8 billion (US$11 billion) and customers in 70 countries, has established a partnership with its Barbadian customers with the acquisition of existing submarine companies. Over the last 64 years, in a dedicated telecommunications thrust, the parent company has concentrated its efforts on bringing cutting-edge technology to the residents of this island.
Cable & Wireless has also extended its commitment to Barbados through its attention to advancements in telephony since acquiring the Barbados Telephone Company on February 4, 1987. Subsequent developments have ensured that the company's customers have access to a range of products ranging from basic telephone service and internet access, to managed data network solutions, ISDN and cellular services via an enhanced network.
